At a glance

Humboldt Farms is a California cannabis brand founded by Zach Rubin and built around sun-grown flower sourced from small family farms in Humboldt County. The current line spans flower, pre-rolls, live-resin concentrates and cartridges, with statewide wholesale distribution and a separate hemp-derived direct-to-consumer business.

Founder and history

A 2021 distribution announcement identifies Zach Rubin as Humboldt Farms’ founder and CEO. The company’s hemp site dates the California cannabis brand to 2015. Its public story centers on aggregating Humboldt-grown cannabis under one consumer label rather than presenting Humboldt Farms as a single estate or one cultivation license.

Small-farm sourcing model

The brand says its premium flower is sun-ripened and organically grown on small family farms in Humboldt County. Because multiple farms contribute, cultivar, harvest conditions and licensee can change by batch. “Humboldt Farms” should not be confused with Humboldt Family Farms, Native Humboldt Farms or other similarly named regional companies.

Flower lineup

Current flower pages divide the range into Premium, Classic and Mini tiers, plus larger half-ounce and ounce bags. Premium flower is hand-selected from limited batches; Classic covers familiar cultivars; Mini uses smaller buds from the same plants as a value format. The site’s cultivar library adds terpene and profile information for rotating releases.

Pre-rolls

Humboldt Farms sells pre-rolled flower and has historically offered live-resin- or live-rosin-infused formats in singles and multipacks. Exact infusion type matters: live resin is solvent-extracted, while live rosin is solventless. Current package labeling and retailer menus should override older distribution announcements when formats change.

Concentrates and cartridges

The concentrate line includes live resin made from cannabis frozen immediately after harvest. The brand says its live-resin cartridges use full-spectrum, high-terpene extract from Humboldt-grown flower with no added distillate. Dark or violet packaging is used to reduce light exposure, but storage claims do not replace checking batch age and handling.

Distribution and availability

The live wholesale page states that Humboldt Farms has statewide California distribution, and the consumer site links to a dispensary locator and delivery marketplace. A 2021 agreement made Unrivaled Brands the exclusive California sales and distribution provider at that time; it is a historical contract, not proof of the current distributor.

Hemp-derived extension

Humboldt Farms Hemp operates a separate online channel for products represented as containing less than 0.3% hemp-derived delta-9 THC. It says the extension followed the 2018 Farm Bill and publishes a list of states it will not ship to. Hemp ecommerce and California licensed cannabis are legally distinct inventories.

Awards and recognition

No organizer-published Humboldt Farms competition win was located in this research pass. The brand’s claims to be a leading source or to grow the world’s best cannabis are marketing statements, not independent rankings. Its most verifiable milestones are the 2015 brand date, founder attribution and documented statewide distribution expansion.

What to verify. Check the farm or licensee, harvest and package dates, cultivar, product tier, infusion or extraction method and batch COA. Use California’s recall portal for current safety notices and do not assume a similarly named Humboldt company is connected. The misspelled legacy page slug does not change the verified Humboldt Farms identity.
