Jane West is a founder-led cannabis lifestyle and smokeware brand built around flower consumption, design and normalization. Jane West began with cannabis-friendly events in Denver, co-founded Women Grow, and launched the product company in 2016. The business is roughly 80% owned by women and people of color, a position it reached through equity crowdfunding.
Jane West's path into cannabis
West founded Edible Events Company in 2013, producing Friday-night cannabis cocktail parties in Denver art galleries for adults celebrating legalization, including a collaboration with the Colorado Symphony. National coverage followed on ABC Nightline, CNBC and CBS This Morning and in The New York Times. A 4/20 brunch in 2014 was shut down by the city, and West faced charges, probation and a ban; she moved from events into organizing and product design.
Women Grow
In 2014 West co-founded Women Grow in Denver with Jazmin Hupp, to connect, educate and support leadership in the legal cannabis industry. Its networking events have been attended by more than 100,000 people. Women Grow is a separate organization from the Jane West commercial brand, but the founder's organizing work explains the brand's emphasis on women, diverse ownership and making consumption less socially hidden.
Current smokeware
The store spans glassware, replacement bowls and downstems, cleaning supplies, travel pieces, apparel and collaborations. The Twenties Collection uses coordinated colors across hand pipes, water pipes, ashtrays and compatible parts. JW Originals covers established house shapes, while limited releases have included the Day & Night Travel Pipe Set, an outdoor silicone pipe and the JW Sidekick made with GEAR Premium.
Licensing and packaging
Alongside its own accessories, the company earns royalties from licensing agreements with manufacturers and supplies branded child-resistant packaging to licensed cannabis producers. Regulated cannabis cannot move across state lines, so that model lets the design brand travel while local licensed operators handle the plant.
Crowdfunding
Jane West raised from small investors through SEC-registered Regulation Crowdfunding offerings on Republic, closing the last of three campaigns on April 25, 2021 with $717,435 raised from 3,430 investors across 42 countries. That financing is what produced the company's women- and POC-majority ownership.
Jane West x Prism
A September 18, 2025 launch introduced a collaboration with Prism around modular glass pieces designed as tabletop objects. The date places the item inside the twelve-month media window. As with the rest of the catalog, a collaboration name does not make every bowl, downstem or connector universal; dimensions and product-family compatibility should be matched before ordering a replacement.
Choosing a piece
Hand pipes offer the simplest flower format, while water pipes add a base, downstem and bowl. Travel sets and silicone pieces answer different durability and portability needs. Color and silhouette are design choices, but joint size, included components, cleaning access, glass construction and replacement-part availability determine whether a piece fits an existing setup.
Accessories rather than cannabis
Jane West's online store sells hardware and lifestyle goods rather than filled cannabis products. Earlier licensing agreements placed the design name on regulated products made by local licensees. Each cannabis item is tied to its licensed manufacturer, market and package, while the online store's shipping and return terms apply only to accessory orders.
