Top Shelf Cultivation is the Long Beach indoor grower Brian Danaher founded in 1999 and still runs with his family. His son Kelsey is head grower. His daughter Kylie handles retail at the family's Long Beach Collective. The house cultivar, Whoa-Si-Whoa, crosses The White with Do-Si-Dos.
The jars keep moving in 2026. Catalyst Cannabis lists a Whoa Si Whoa one-gram pre-roll at $18 and a Remix pre-roll single at $5.50 at its Bellflower store, taxes included in the menu price.
A 1999 start in Northern California
The company began up north and moved south. Its own account describes more than 20 years cultivating indoors in both halves of California, with the focus never leaving indoor rooms. Top Shelf grows at a Long Beach facility and posts California license C11-0000071-LIC on its site, alongside adult-use cultivation license CCL18-0000842 on its Weedmaps page.
Danaher is founder and chief executive, and the company's story page calls him a legacy grower. The August 9, 2022 announcement of its Cannabis Cup wins described Top Shelf as family-owned and operated, and the story page keeps that framing: three Danahers, one grow and one storefront.
Whoa-Si-Whoa and the cultivars around it
Whoa-Si-Whoa is the flagship. Top Shelf sells it as packaged flower and as a one-gram pre-roll, and it has extended the name into Lemon Whoa-Si-Whoa, a cross with Lemon. The wider cultivar list runs through Peanut Butter Breath, Garlic Gas, Dreamwalker OG, Tropical Runtz and Top Shelf OG.
The Remix pre-roll sits at the other end of the shelf, a cheaper single that keeps the brand in the impulse slot. Weedmaps lists roughly 20 Top Shelf items: flower jars, smalls, ground flower, infused flower, pre-rolls, vape cartridges and disposables, priced from $4.95 to $143.
The classifications are on the record as well. Top Shelf lists Whoa-Si-Whoa as indica-dominant, Lemon Whoa-Si-Whoa as a balanced hybrid and Peanut Butter Breath as indica-dominant. Weedmaps listings for its flower show THC figures between 27% and 36%, with 3.5-gram jars of Whoa Si Whoa and Peanut Butter Breath at $55.
Cannabis Cup results in 2022 and 2023
The trophy shelf is built on People's Choice voting. At the 2022 High Times Cannabis Cup People's Choice Edition for Southern California, Whoa-Si-Whoa took first place in two categories, Best Indica Flower and Best Indica Pre-Roll. Top Shelf announced both wins from Long Beach on August 9, 2022.
Leafly, wrapping the 2023 Cannabis Cup results on December 21, 2023, listed Whoa Si Whoa and Peanut Butter Breath among the flower-category winners at the Southern California People's Choice Cup. Team Elite Genetics and Seed Junky Genetics filled out those same categories. The Circle LBC counts more than 10 Cannabis Cup awards for the brand and 10 first-place finishes for Whoa-Si-Whoa.
Living soil, hand water, hand trim
Method is the pitch here. The company says every batch is grown in living soil, hand watered and hand trimmed at its Long Beach rooms, without industrial shortcuts. It runs custom nutrient programs built in-house. The three words it leads with are quality, consistency and dedication.
That approach sets the scale. Top Shelf works in small batches rather than volume runs, and the grow stays indoor-only, which is where the operation has spent its whole history. Tropicanna, a Santa Ana retailer, described the output in October 2025 as small-batch work built around specific cultivars.
Where the flower lands in California
Distribution is wholesale and statewide. The company says its products sit in licensed shops across Northern, Central and Southern California, and it sources its retailer list from Weedmaps. Named stockists include Catalyst Cannabis, Budology and Higher Ground.
Long Beach is still home base. The Circle LBC, a shop in the city, updated its Top Shelf brand page on April 15, 2026 and lists 3.5-gram jars of Whoa-Si-Whoa, Garlic Gas and Dreamwalker OG. Catalyst, another Long Beach operator, carries the pre-rolls, with two Top Shelf items stocked on its Bellflower menu.
The brand travels beyond Los Angeles County too. Tropicanna in Santa Ana wrote on October 7, 2025 that it regularly stocks Top Shelf flower and pre-rolls, Whoa Si Whoa included.
The storefront and the edibles side
The family business runs past cultivation. Kylie Danaher manages retail at Long Beach Collective, the family's own dispensary, which puts the grower on both sides of the counter in its home city. The story page also names Whoa Infused, an edibles company in the same family orbit. That leaves the Danahers selling their own flower over their own counter while wholesaling the rest of the state.
