Purple Mints is a Tier 3 live rosin from Punch Extracts, the solventless concentrate line of California's Punch Edibles. Dispensary menus also carry it as Purple Mintz, including a 1g jar at Hey High in Santa Monica. It belongs to a long run of mint-driven jars that Punch presses across its tier ladder.
Where Tier 3 sits on the Punch ladder
Punch grades rosin by input material. Dab Connection's January 2021 review laid out the original split: Tier 1 from indoor source material, Tier 2 from greenhouse and Tier 3 from outdoor, sun-grown flower. That puts Purple Mints in the sun-grown lane of the lineup.
The ladder has grown since. Punch's rosin page now lists four tiers, and the Weedmaps catalog adds a Silver Tier on select cold cure badders. Fresh frozen flower and a mesh press
Punch calls rosin a full-spectrum concentrate made from flower or hash. Live rosin starts with fresh frozen flower rather than cured buds, a step the brand uses to keep terpenes intact. The frozen material is washed into hash with purified ice and water in a climate-controlled room.
That hash is pressed through fine mesh to separate the oil. Punch finishes live rosin as either fresh press or cold cure badder, and states that its solventless jars contain no cutting agents or additives. Punch also sells live rosin vapes in 510 cartridge and disposable formats.
A mint-heavy Punch catalog
Mint crosses show up all over the Punch menu. The brand's Tier III Gush Mints live rosin pairs Durban Gushers with Kush Mints, pressed from frozen live plants without solvents. Its Kush Cake live rosin crosses Kush Mints with Wedding Cake and lands as an indica-dominant hybrid.
The current Weedmaps list of Punch cold cure badders adds Alien Gushmints and Garlic Mints to the mix. Those badders run from Tier 4 up through Tier 1 and a Silver Tier. Banana Yuzu, one of the Tier 1 jars, is listed at 66.6% THC.
Dab Connection writer Ben Chu scored his Tier 3 Modified Strawberries sample 9.6 out of 10. He noted it sold for about $50 or less before tax at most shops.
An edibles company that went solventless
Punch Edibles launched in 2013 with the PunchBar, a compact, high-potency chocolate bar. The company grew into a California family of brands that includes Punch Extracts, Tempo and Dr Norms, with products in hundreds of dispensaries across the state. Its edibles span six lines and 30 chocolate bar varieties. The Punch Cares Program supports California veterans.
HashWriter's February 2021 review marked the brand's move into solventless extraction. It covered early jars like FatLato fresh press and Garlic Cream badder, noted Humboldt flower as the input, and praised Punch's open-box packaging for putting the glass jar on display.
