Summit Boys and a long California run
Summit Boys has been producing in California since 2016, starting under Proposition 215 before the adult-use market existed.
The brand took 14 awards at the 2019 Bay Area Cannabis Cup, including Best Product. Those results belong to the entries Summit Boys ran that year rather than to any single jar on a shelf today, but they say something about how long the operation has been taken seriously.

Santa Cruz Canna Farms lists Z Bananas on its own menu. It is a family-owned, sun-grown operation in Santa Cruz County, under half a mile from the ocean among organic strawberry fields, with more than forty years of local growing behind it.
Coastal sun-grown material behaves differently in an extraction room than indoor does. The plants finish under natural light cycles with real temperature swings, and that tends to produce a broader, less uniform terpene picture than a climate-controlled room would.
A crowded corner of the name space
Banana-and-Z names are one of the busiest collisions in cannabis. At least five separate cultivars circulate from five different breeders: Banana-Z from Terphogz, Banana Z from James Loud Genetics, Bananaz from Old School Genetics, another Bananaz from People Under The Stairs Genetics, and Banana Zkittlez from Dying Breed Seeds.
Every one of those is a different plant. The shared vocabulary reflects how the Zkittlez wave and the banana lane collided around the same time, not a shared family tree.
What crumble actually is
Crumble is produced by purging an extract low and slow and leaving it undisturbed. The extended low-temperature purge dries the material until it sets brittle.
Whip that same extract during the purge and it becomes badder. Let it crystallise through and it becomes sugar. Texture is a decision made after extraction, and it settles nothing about the starting material — fresh-frozen input gives live resin crumble, cured material gives cured resin crumble.
Working with a dry texture
Crumble handles differently from anything wetter. It loads easily onto a cold tool, it does not run off a dabber, and it is the least messy texture to portion, which is why some people prefer it regardless of what is inside.
The trade is surface area. A dry, broken-up extract has more of it exposed to air, so it degrades faster once opened than a sealed badder does. Keep it cold and closed.
