The Straight Neck Bubble Bong is a 12-inch piece made from some of the thickest glass HEMPER produces, running a classic disc percolator. It lists at $49.99.
Thick glass changes how a bong feels
Wall thickness is the least glamorous spec on a bong and one of the most consequential. Thicker glass carries more mass, so the piece sits planted on a table instead of being easy to catch with a sleeve.
It also survives the ordinary accidents that end thin glass — a knock against a tap, a bowl dropped back into the joint. A heavier bong simply lasts longer in a house where it gets used.
The disc perc
A disc percolator is a flat plate with slits cut across it, sitting horizontally in the water. Smoke spreads out across the full width of the disc and exits evenly rather than rising in one column.
Disc percs are valued for being reliable and easy to clear. There are no fragile arms to snap and no complex geometry to trap resin, which is why they age better than more elaborate designs.
Who it's for
This is the durability choice: a full-size straight neck for someone who wants a bong to keep for years rather than the most novel piece on the shelf. The 12-inch height gives smoke a long run to cool.
For a slimmer version, the Straight Tube Bubble Bong 10" uses a matrix perc. For a wider base, the Beast 18" XL Beaker steps up in size. More on the HEMPER brand page.
Keeping it clean
Percolated glass traps resin where a cloth will never reach. Change the water every couple of sessions, and once a week plug both ends and soak the chamber in isopropyl and coarse salt. Shake in short bursts rather than one long rattle, then rinse with warm rather than hot water so the glass never takes a thermal shock.
