The Tornado Vortex was the first HEMPER piece to use their vortex cooling design — small holes in the upper chamber that set the smoke spinning as you draw. It runs a showerhead percolator underneath and ships with a 14mm male flower bowl. It sells for $24.99.
How the vortex works
The holes in the upper chamber pull in additional air at an angle. That incoming air pushes the rising smoke into a rotation rather than letting it climb straight up, which is what produces the visible tornado.
Spinning the smoke also keeps it moving against the walls of the chamber for longer, adding a little more cooling before it reaches the mouthpiece. The trick is genuinely functional rather than purely visual.
Showerhead perc and a large chamber
Below the vortex sits a showerhead perc doing the primary diffusion, splitting smoke through a ring of slits as it enters the water.
The chamber is deliberately roomy, which keeps drag low. A wide path means you can take a long pull without fighting the piece — and a long, steady pull is exactly what the vortex effect needs to form.
Who it's for
This is the show-off piece at the cheap end of the range: something that does a visible trick, comes ready to use with its bowl included, and still works as an everyday bong.

Keeping it clean
Percolated glass traps resin where a cloth will never reach. Change the water every couple of sessions, and once a week plug both ends and soak the chamber in isopropyl and coarse salt. Shake in short bursts rather than one long rattle, then rinse with warm rather than hot water so the glass never takes a thermal shock.
