The lower chamber does the diffusion
A 6-slit inline perc lies horizontally in the water with six cuts along its length, so smoke exits across the width of the chamber rather than in a single column. Spreading it that way puts far more of it in contact with water, which is where the cooling happens.
Inline percs are also low-drag, so the piece stays easy to pull despite running two stages.
The upper chamber spins it
Venturi inlets are narrow openings that accelerate air as it passes through them. Positioned around the upper chamber, they draw in air at an angle and set the rising vapour rotating.
The vortex keeps vapour circulating against the chamber walls instead of running straight for the mouthpiece, adding travel distance in a fixed height. Longer travel means more cooling without a taller bong — and the spin is visible while it happens.

Shake in short bursts rather than one long rattle, then rinse with warm rather than hot water so the glass never takes a thermal shock.
