Blue Lotus

Type: indica

Blue Lotus is Maven Genetics' second Black Box Series release: Blue Gelato #41 crossed to Maven's own XXX OG, chosen as the winner out of twelve phenotypes. It runs indica-leaning, gassy and earthy with sweet undertones, and the arc Maven describes is heavy in the head before it settles into the body. The cut mattered enough that Maven built three more releases on top of it.

Where It Comes From

Maven runs its Black Box Series as limited editions, and Blue Lotus was the second. The selection story is the interesting part, and Maven publishes it plainly: twelve phenotypes were grown out, all of them showing traits worth keeping, and one was chosen. That is a small hunt by modern standards, which makes the pick specific rather than statistical.

The cut earned its keep. Maven has since built a family around it — Cherry Lotus, a sister phenotype from the same Blue Gelato 41 x XXX OG pairing; French Lotus, a cross of FKAFL (itself LA Rouge x The Soap) back to Blue Lotus; and Blue Lotus S1, a feminized line made by selfing the prized Blue Lotus cut and distributed through Attitude Seedbank.

Few brand strains generate three named descendants. For a limited-run release, that is the real measure.

The Cross

Maven bred and selected it, and both parents come from established lanes. Blue Gelato #41 sits in the Gelato family and brings berry, cream, citrus, colour and Cookies-style resin. Maven's XXX OG brings the other half: earth, pine, fuel, spice and heavier OG structure.

The sequence is the design of the cross — berry and cream at the open, then XXX OG pulling the finish toward pungent Kush depth. Dessert on the intake, fuel on the exit. A careful cure is what keeps the fruit visible under the gas instead of letting the pungency flatten it.

Flower is typically dense and trichome-heavy, forest green with blue and purple sections around orange pistils. Maven selections are known for looks, but colour depends on phenotype and finishing temperature rather than on the name. The indica-leaning label describes family and growth tendency, not a guaranteed session.

What It Left Behind

Blue Lotus's footprint is breeding influence inside Maven's own catalog. The Cherry Lotus sister pheno, the French Lotus cross and the Blue Lotus S1 seed line all trace back to this single selection.

The S1 line is the part with reach beyond Maven's shelves. Selfing the cut and putting feminized seed into distribution hands the selection to growers the brand will never meet, which is how a limited brand release stops being limited. It also puts Blue Agapē on the list, since Maven used Blue Lotus as a parent there too.

The High Rise Take

Blue Lotus is Maven's Black Box pick from twelve phenotypes: Blue Gelato #41 x XXX OG, berry and cream over earth, pine and gas, heavy in the head before it settles. Read it as an evening-weighted hybrid that can stay social at a modest amount and turn quiet at a larger one.

Treat any potency figure as belonging to that batch or seed selection alone, and treat therapeutic language on a package as marketing rather than as information about what this plant does.
