Golden Applez is a hybrid bred and grown by Maven Genetics, the Los Angeles cultivator and seed breeder rooted in the San Fernando Valley. Maven made it by crossing two of its own lines, Golden Hour and Fried Applez.
The cross matters well beyond a single jar. Maven uses Golden Applez as the cornerstone male in its regular seed line, and it sits behind five of the company's 12-pack seed releases.
Golden Hour × Fried Applez from Maven's own lines
Both parents come from inside Maven's program. The name takes one half from each: Golden from Golden Hour, Applez from Fried Applez. Maven describes the result as a flavorful hybrid with a strong head high and full-body relaxation.
Each parent shows up in the finished flower. Maven says the dense nugs carry the structure of Fried Applez, while the coloring comes from Golden Hour. Amber pistils sit between frost-covered trichomes.
Some cuts lean darker. Leafly describes buds that run more purple than red, with indigo tones flaked with green and creamsicle-colored pistils. The flavor opens with apple and lemon and finishes with spice and hops over an earthy, herbal base.
A cornerstone male in Maven's seed line
Golden Applez carries more weight as a breeding parent than most house flower. Maven uses it as the male in five regular 12-pack strains: Apples and Diamonds, Gold Linens, Golden Ticket, Piña Sangria and Paradiso.
Most of those crosses finish flowering in 56–63 days. Golden Applez itself tests at 27–30% THC in independent results.
Growers who run Golden Applez report a 9–10 week flowering period. Plants grow medium to tall and return medium to high yields. They respond well to low-stress training, and its intensity in late flower calls for odor control in the grow room.
How Maven Genetics selects and breeds
Maven started as a small, closet-grown passion project and grew into a licensed California operator. The company produces indoor flower, concentrates and small-batch releases, and its team draws on more than two decades of cultivation experience.
The breeding approach favors selection over volume. Rather than flooding the market with crosses, Maven hunts large populations and releases only standout plants. Blue Lotus, for example, was chosen from 12 phenotypes before it reached shelves.
Golden Applez comes out of that process. It pairs two in-house parents, Maven grows and sells the flower itself, and the plant now returns to the breeding room as a male for new work.

Maven's lineup earned wider attention at the 2023 High Times Cannabis Cup SoCal Edition. Orange Bellini took first place, and French Laundry, also sold as FKAFL, placed second.
Those two show the range of the catalog. Orange Bellini crosses Orange Truffle Soufflé with Peach Creme Gelato, while FKAFL comes from The Soap × LA Rouge. Golden Applez adds a fruit-forward apple branch to that mix.
The effect lands in a balanced middle. Maven describes the body settling into a relaxed state while the mind drifts toward euphoria, and it frames Golden Applez as a hybrid for any time of day.
