Grip Tape is a hybrid bred, selected and grown in house by Bosky Genetics, the California craft flower brand run by head cultivator Ryan Clark. It crosses Bosky's own Kookieland with Cherry Gushers, a clone the team received from friends at Billionaire Exoticz.
The name is a nod to Clark's longtime love of skateboarding. Grip Tape came out of one of Bosky's 2023 pheno hunts, and SKUNK Magazine featured it under Clark's name in its Spring 2024 issue.
Ryan Clark and a 2024 California debut
Clark brings more than 20 years of growing experience to Bosky, and he spent six years developing and testing his own fertilizer blends before the brand launched. His wife, Jenn, handles finance and compliance. Bosky broke into the licensed California market at the start of 2024.
The company frames its work as quality over quantity, with in-house breeding and premium indoor flower. Cultivars make the cut for flavor and overall experience rather than raw output, and Grip Tape was selected on those terms from the 2023 hunt.
Kookieland, Bosky's own foundation
Kookieland is the first parent and a Bosky original. The team bred it in 2015 from Archive's Dosidos and a King Kandy male, which Bosky hand-selected from seeds gifted by San Diego's S.D. Cookie Jar. King Kandy itself is Forum Cookies × Candyland.
Bosky took Kookieland to F2 in 2018 and has since locked it into F3 at its own facility. The line grows tight, dense and resin-rich, and it hits hard for a cultivar with candy in its family tree. Kookie Dough is another Bosky release built on Kookieland, paired there with Gelato #33 and finishing as stout, golf-ball buds.
Cherry Gushers from Billionaire Exoticz
Cherry Gushers arrived as a bag-seed clone, a gift from the Billionaire Exoticz crew. Bosky crossed it with Kookieland in house, and the 2023 pheno hunt on that pairing produced the keeper now sold as Grip Tape.
The result pulls from both sides of the family. Weedmaps lists terpene notes of gas, pine, lemon and skunk and ties them to the OG Kush ancestry in the lineage, while Leaf Magazine picks up a doughy, gassy profile.
Camo nugs and a 30% THC jar
Grip Tape grows chunky, spiky buds in a mottled light- and dark-green camo pattern, with a lighter green underneath once broken open. Resin production is heavy, and the flower gets sticky enough when ground and rolled that the brand compares the resin to glue, which fits the name.
Bosky's retail listing puts Grip Tape at 30% THC and calls it a hard-hitting balanced hybrid, though the same listing files it under indica. Leaf Magazine describes a high that keeps you moving without couch-lock, a kind of blissful autopilot. Weedmaps adds a strong, soaring effect with a noticeable headband.
Bosky packs the flower in a matte black jar that limits light and air, with a viewing glass on the bottom so buyers can check the buds before opening it. The brand's licensed operation in California covers both cultivation and distribution.
