Jealousy

Type: hybrid

Jealousy is Seed Junky Genetics' Cookies-family concentrate in flower form — Gelato #41 folded back into Sherbert Bx1, two branches of the same tree crossed into one loud, resin-heavy phenotype. Buds run dense and near-black, dusted white, with electric orange hairs threading through. The reputation is real: this is the strain that went from a regional secret to Strain of the Year in under two years, with lines around the block for clone drops and counterfeits everywhere the name traveled.

Where It Comes From

Seed Junky Genetics co-founder J Beezy built Jealousy and debuted it in late 2019 through The Minntz, the joint venture between Cookies and Seed Junky. Berner, Cookies' founder, named it — his own explanation was blunt: he knew people would be jealous the moment they saw the pheno. He wasn't wrong.

Jealousy went from roughly 90 dispensary listings in 2021 to more than 1,500 by 2022, clone cuttings sold for $500 apiece, and seed packs ran $750 a pack. J Beezy has said the real cut is a small fraction of what actually gets sold under the name — worth remembering before paying a premium for a jar with "Jealousy" on the label.

The Cross

The math is Gelato #41 × Sherbert Bx1, and it's tighter than it looks. Gelato #41 traces to Sunset Sherbet crossed with Thin Mint Cookies. Sherbert Bx1 is a backcross that runs through Sunset Sherbet and Cookies stock again. Follow both parents back far enough and they converge on the same Cookies lineage — Jealousy doesn't cross that family out, it concentrates it. That's the structural reason it reads like an amplified Gelato instead of something new.

Dominant terpenes run beta-caryophyllene, limonene, and myrcene, with linalool and humulene showing up depending on the batch.

The High Rise Take

Jealousy earned the hype the hard way — a tight, well-built cross from a serious breeder, backed by a real title and real competition placements the same year it broke nationally. If the jar reads fruit and fuel in equal measure and the buds run dark and frosty, you're close to the genuine cut.

THC testing regularly lands in the high 20s, so start low with an unfamiliar batch and never drive or operate machinery while you're testing your own limit.
