OG Marker is an indica-dominant hybrid grown by Preferred Gardens from a Seed Junky Genetics cross of OG Kush and Permanent Marker. It joins the OG Kush line that shaped 1990s Los Angeles flower with Permanent Marker, Leafly's 2023 Strain of the Year.
The jar numbers back up the pedigree. A 3.5g Big Buds bag listed on Weedmaps tested at 29.92% THC and 3.30% terpenes, with CBD at 0.04%. Leafly places typical OG Marker results at 27–31% THC.
Permanent Marker, the 2023 strain of the year
The newer parent is Permanent Marker, bred and grown by JBeezy of Seed Junky Genetics and selected by Doja Pak. It crosses a Biscotti and Sherb backcross line with Jealousy.
Los Angeles indie brand Doja Exclusive released Permanent Marker on both coasts in 2022. A year later, Leafly named it the 2023 Strain of the Year. Crossing it with OG Kush gave Seed Junky Genetics a way to push one of its biggest modern hits back toward classic West Coast gas.
OG Kush and its route from Florida to Los Angeles
OG Kush is the older half. Leafly traces it to Florida in the early 1990s. The cut reached Los Angeles in 1996, when Matt "Bubba" Berger brought it west to grower Josh D.
From there it became a backbone of California cannabis. Tahoe OG, SFV OG and Ghost OG all trace back to it, and breeders used it to build GSC and Headband. In OG Marker, that OG line sits directly across from Permanent Marker instead of several generations back.

Preferred Gardens is a family-owned, legacy cultivator operating since 2005. The company says it has long been known for flower and terp-rich genetics, and it holds cultivation licenses in California, Florida and New York.
OG Marker shows up across that footprint in several formats. Weedmaps carries it as a 3.5g Big Buds bag and a 7g Smalls bag, both credited to Seed Junky Genetics as breeder. Listings describe sticky, resin-packed buds with dark tones, and Leafly notes dense, frosty flowers.
