Rainbow Cake

Brand: Pheno Finder Seeds

Type: indica-dominant hybrid

Rainbow Cake is a feminized hybrid from Pheno Finder Seeds, an Amsterdam seed company run by a team of growers and breeders from Holland, Spain and the United States. It crosses Rainbow Belts with Wedding Cake.

The most notable part of the cross is its first parent. Rainbow Belts comes from Archive Seed Bank, and Pheno Finder pairs it with Wedding Cake, a former Leafly Strain of the Year.

Pheno Finder Seeds out of Amsterdam

Pheno Finder Seeds is based in Amsterdam, with a street address in the city center. Its team splits across three countries, and its catalog covers feminized, autoflower and regular seeds.

Rainbow Cake sits in the feminized line. It is a photoperiod plant, so it flowers on a light schedule rather than on its own clock, and it can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Retailers sell it in small packs. So Oregon Seeds lists a five-seed souvenir pack and classes the cultivar as mostly indica, which lines up with its indica-dominant hybrid label.

Rainbow Belts meets Wedding Cake

Rainbow Belts is Archive Seed Bank's cross of Zkittlez and Moonbow #75. It gives Rainbow Cake a direct link to the Zkittlez family and to Archive's own Moonbow breeding work.

Wedding Cake is the second parent. Leafly lists it as a Triangle Kush × Animal Mints cross, also known as Triangle Mints #23 and sold in Canada as Pink Cookies. It was named Leafly Strain of the Year in 2019.

Alchimia credits Wedding Cake with the cross's heavy resin production. Leafly classes Wedding Cake as an indica hybrid, and Rainbow Cake carries that indica lean into the next generation.

A vigorous plant built for resin

Rainbow Cake grows with a high degree of vigor. So Oregon Seeds calls the plants resin factories, producing dense, resinous buds, and Alchimia recommends the cultivar for extraction because of its resin output.

Alchimia describes the plant as robust and vigorous in both indoor and outdoor gardens. Yields vary by source, though. Alchimia lists high yields indoors and out, while So Oregon Seeds rates yield as average but stresses the quality of the harvest.

Flowering times also vary by seller. So Oregon Seeds lists 42–49 days, and Leafly puts it at 6–7 weeks. Alchimia lists 65–70 days indoors, with outdoor plants finishing in mid-October.

Color, potency and effects

The finished flower tends toward dark color. Weedmaps describes spade-shaped green nugs with bright purple undertones, bright orange hairs and purple-tinted trichomes. Leafly notes dense, resin-coated buds in dark purple and frosted green.

Seed sellers put THC around 25%, and Leafly lists 24%. Retail products on Weedmaps have tested between 26.66% and 28.08% THC. Leafly names limonene, myrcene and caryophyllene as the leading terpenes.

Leafly reviewers describe Rainbow Cake as happy, euphoric and relaxed. Alchimia calls the high uplifting, intense and long-lasting, starting euphoric before it settles into relaxation. Weedmaps says the effects build over time and ease into calm and sleepiness, and the flavor comes across as creamy and cake-like, with light vanilla and citrus.
