Sherbanger is a Sunset Sherbert and Headbanger OG hybrid, and in practice the name almost always means Sherbanger #22, the keeper phenotype also called Emmitt Smith. Where It Comes From
Two credits, one plant, and they do not conflict. Boston Roots Seed Co. made the Sunset Sherbert crossed with Headbanger OG. NorCal Gardens pulled the #22 out of that population, and Atlas Seed put the cut in front of the public. One group made the cross, another found the plant worth keeping, and that is how most modern cuts actually arrive.
The number is not decoration. Sherbanger from seed can express in several directions, so a jar labeled Sherbanger without the #22 may be a completely different phenotype from the one that built the reputation. Read the label before you pay for the name.
The Cross
The direct parents are Sunset Sherbet and Headbanger OG. Sunset Sherbert brings the Cookies-family side: berry, citrus, cream and a skunky depth underneath. Headbanger OG is Biker Kush crossed with Sour Diesel, which accounts for the sour fuel, the pine and the driving growth pattern growers report.
The plant runs vigorous through week four of flower, resists pests and mold, and spaces its internodes wide enough to leave room for airflow. Purple arrives late, around weeks six and seven, deepening if late-stage temperatures drop. Flowering time lands at 67 to 70 days.
Terpenes are the most distinguishable part of it: sweet blueberry with a hint of gassy OG that carries straight through to the smoke. Retail and review descriptions widen that to musky sweet berry, earth, floral and diesel fuel. The useful observation is that blueberry reads as a genuine top note here rather than a generic fruit tag, and the OG gas sits directly behind it instead of arriving as an afterthought.
The buds split visually too, with darker nugs leaning Sherb and lighter ones leaning Headbanger. Cure and storage decide whether the cream or the fuel dominates any given jar.
What It Left Behind
No competition placement is on record. The footprint here is distribution and reputation: Atlas Seed released the #22 as the first public offering of the cut, Epiphany NY has grown it, and it circulates through multiple clone nurseries. Getting a hunt-selected keeper released publicly is itself the story.
The High Rise Take
Sherbanger is Sunset Sherbert crossed with Headbanger OG, and the #22 is the phenotype that earned the name: blueberry over OG gas, cerebral then heavy. The common report is a medium-level lift with a body component, a strong onset that settles into something more physical rather than staying up top.
Tested lots commonly land in the 21 to 24 percent THC range, which describes those batches and not the cultivar. At a measured amount it fits music, conversation or an afternoon with a loose plan, and more pushes the finish heavier and less focused. Look for the number on the label, and follow the fuel back to Headbanger.
