Traffic Jam is an indica-dominant flower from Preferred Gardens, the family-owned cultivator David Polley founded in 2015 after a decade of growing. It comes out of a library of more than 260 strains that the company bred or pheno-hunted from seed rather than bought from nurseries.
The standout number is on the bag. A 3.5g Buds Bag listed on Weedmaps tested at 27.39% THC, and the brand sums the flower up as a strong body high that packs a punch.
A house cut from a 260-strain library
Preferred Gardens does not shop for clones. Its Weedmaps profile states the library holds over 260 strains, none purchased from nurseries, all bred or pheno-hunted from seed. The company's own mixed-light write-up adds that Polley evaluates around 200 seeds a month to find keepers.
That is a lot of plants thrown away for every one that makes the menu. Traffic Jam is one of the survivors, and it now sits on the Preferred Gardens strain page alongside Perm Lee, OG Marker, Guavaz, Znackz, Bluebanger, New Red Paint and Red Citron.
Two of its shelf-mates show the range of that program. Lazer Gun and Applescotti come out of the same library and the same greenhouses, and each carries the same house approach of hunting from seed.
Legacy roots, no outside money
Polley started cultivating in 2005, and Preferred Gardens was active in the medical market long before legalization. The brand still describes itself as family-owned and operated with no investors.
That independence shows up in the menu. The company pitches one-of-a-kind, affordable strain selections and says it introduces multiple new strains each year. Traffic Jam fits that model: an in-house selection sold in value-sized bags rather than a licensed cut with a famous name attached.
Retail pricing backs that up. Retailer Hyperwolf listed a Traffic Jam eighth at $32, tested at 27.3% THC and classed as an indica-leaning hybrid.
Grown under mixed light
Most Preferred Gardens flower comes from large-scale mixed-light greenhouses, with indoor rooms alongside. Mixed light pairs natural sun with supplemental lighting, which lets the farm run year-round while cutting the energy load of a fully sealed room.
The company credits the method with dense buds, heavy trichome coverage and consistent potency from harvest to harvest. Traffic Jam's mid-to-high 20s THC results on two separate retail listings line up with that claim.
The same flower also feeds the rest of the lineup. Preferred Gardens sells full-gram pre-rolls made from whole flower, single-ingredient all-in-one vapes, solventless extracts and rosin edibles.
From California to four markets
Preferred Gardens holds a California adult-use cultivation license, and Traffic Jam has turned up on retail menus from Hyperwolf to Cookies' Maywood store. The company now operates in California, Arizona, Florida and New York, with Florida medical cultivation and manufacturing licenses and a New York processor license.
The New York push included a launch at The Flowery in Staten Island.
On the menu, Traffic Jam reads as a gassy sherbet flower with a heavy body finish. Hyperwolf frames it as an evening pick, heavy and relaxing, which matches its indica-dominant tag and the brand's own punchy description.
