Khalifa Kush is Wiz Khalifa's cannabis brand, built on KK, the cultivar developed for him in Los Angeles in the early 2010s. The company runs teams in Pittsburgh and Los Angeles under CEO DJ Saul and co-founder and COO Tim Hunkele. It doesn't grow the flower itself: licensed operators in each market cultivate, make and sell it under the Khalifa Kush name.
The brand went into cans in 2026. On August 25, 2026 it launched Khalifa Kush & Orange Juice, a hemp-derived THC drink made by Scofflaw in Atlanta.
KK, K1 and the private stash
KK started as Wiz's personal strain. The company says it was developed for him in Los Angeles in the early 2010s, and he kept it to himself for years. In 2014 he decided to share it with the world, and the cultivar also carries the designation K1.
Getting it to a legal shelf took two years. Khalifa Kush's first retail sales came in 2016 at Tryke's Reef Dispensaries in the Southwest. The catalog now covers flower, pre-rolls, vapes, edibles and concentrates, and the company also sells apparel and accessories.
From K1 to K5, the numbered lineup
Every cultivar gets a number. Khalifa Mints, or K2, crosses KK with The Menthol and was selected with Compound Genetics. The company calls it the first pheno Wiz hand-selected to expand the menu. Violet Sky, K3, crosses Khalifa Mints with GastroPop. Development started in early 2021, and it emerged as the third cultivar in late 2022.
Baby Turtle, K4, pairs KK with a selected Jokerz #31 pheno, itself a White Runtz and Jet Fuel Gelato cross. Point Breeze, K5, crosses KK with Gastro Pop. It takes its name from the Pittsburgh neighborhood where Khalifa Kush began, and its packaging art draws on whale sharks. All five went on sale together in Ohio in July 2025.
Who grows Khalifa Kush, state by state
The brand works through exclusive state partners, and each deal is dated in its own announcement:
- Trulieve launched Khalifa Kush in Pennsylvania on December 6, 2022 as its exclusive distributor, with Florida, Arizona and Maryland named in the same release.
- Cresco Labs partnered with the brand in California first, then began cultivating, making and distributing it in Massachusetts on July 22, 2023, at Sunnyside stores in Fall River, Framingham, Leicester and Worcester.
- Planet 13 opened a Khalifa Kush store-in-store at its Las Vegas dispensary on August 19, 2024, with the first Nevada cultivation of KK, Violet Sky and Khalifa Mints.
- Flora Arbor, an Elgin craft grower with a 51,000-square-foot facility, launched the line in Illinois on June 6, 2025.
- Wondergrove grows it in Ohio, where the brand launched on July 21, 2025 exclusively at Bloom dispensaries in Columbus, South Columbus, Akron, Painesville Township and Seven Mile.
Wiz called Massachusetts the brand's tenth state and its second with the Cresco team. In Pennsylvania, he said it was "super cool to be able to sell KK legally in Pittsburgh."
Germany first, Australia sixth
Europe opened in January 2025. Khalifa Kush partnered with Berlin's Sanity Group and its avaay Medical brand to launch two exclusive flower strains in Germany's medical cannabis market, sold through more than 3,000 pharmacies. Miracle Valley in British Columbia grew the flower under GACP certification, with processing to EU-GMP standards. Sanity founder and CEO Finn Haensel called the deal a milestone for the German market.
Australia followed in 2026. Cannabis Business Times reported on July 13, 2026 that Endoca holds exclusive rights to import the genetics, mostly from Canada, and to make and distribute Khalifa Kush flower and edibles for Australia's medical market. That made Australia the sixth international market, after Germany, Switzerland, Israel, the United Kingdom and Thailand.
Saul credited restraint. "We've said 'no' to so many new opportunities," he told the publication, describing a strategy built on long-term partners rather than quick revenue.
Kush & Orange Juice in a can
The beverage borrows the name of Wiz Khalifa's Kush & Orange Juice project, which the company says still resonates with fans more than a decade later. Scofflaw manufactures the hemp-derived drink in Atlanta, in 12-ounce cans sold in four-packs priced at $15 and $16. It launched through drinkkhalifa.com in select U.S. states.
"Kush & Orange Juice has always represented more than music," Wiz said at launch. Brent Albin, a partner at Scofflaw LLC, described it as the product of years of collaboration. The drink runs outside the state-licensed dispensary system that carries the flower.
Where Khalifa Kush sells in 2026
The August 2026 beverage announcement listed Khalifa Kush in Arizona, California, Washington, D.C., Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Washington. Abroad, the same release named Germany, Israel and Thailand. The brand's own site adds Michigan to the U.S. list, and Saul told Cannabis Business Times in July 2026 that one or two more states were in view.
The Khalifa Kush name also travels outside cannabis retail. In June 2025, Saul and Hunkele joined the Board of Advisors of Weed Holdings, the company that owns trademark rights to the word "Weed," to help it build a licensed lifestyle brand.
