Sherbinskis

Sherbinskis is the Los Angeles cannabis house that gave the world Gelato. Founder Mario Guzman bred Sunset Sherbert and then the whole Gelato family, and the brand still sells flower, pre-rolls and vapes grown from those exact cuts rather than licensed lookalikes.

The Guy Behind the Gelato

Mario Guzman, Mr. Sherbinski to most people, is a breeder first and a brand owner second. He started out growing in a garage on 20th Avenue in San Francisco's Sunset District in the early 2010s and moved his first crops through the city's Vapor Room.

Sherbinskis has been running since 2014 and is still founder-led, which is the whole reason the genetics never got watered down. Guzman also serves as global head of genetics for the B Noble platform, a role that has carried his breeding work into Europe.

Outside the brand he co-founded Voice of the Plant with Victorine Deych-Guzman, a community platform built around plant advocacy. It is a decent tell for how he approaches the work: the plant first, the label second.

What They Actually Sell

The menu is ultra-premium flower, pre-rolls and vapes, all grown out from proprietary cuts. Concentrates cover live resin, live rosin, hash, solventless and liquid diamonds. There are infused pre-rolls, gummies, rolling papers and build-your-own ounce bundles for anyone buying deep.

Apparel is not an afterthought here. Hats, tees, hoodies and jackets have shared shelf space with the flower from early on, and reward members get first look at limited drops.

From a Sunset District Garage

The dates line up cleanly. Guzman crossed Girl Scout Cookies with Pink Panties in 2012 and got Sunset Sherbert. Two years later he ran that Sherbert back into a Thin Mint Cookies cut, and Gelato existed. That one cross reshaped the top shelf for the decade that followed.

In November 2019 the brand opened a 2,500-square-foot flagship at 345 North Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles alongside delivery service emjay. Collaborations with furniture label Modernica and Fairfax neighbour Diamond Supply Co. followed, which tells you how Sherbinskis has always seen itself.

What They Are Known For

The Gelato family is the catalogue: Bacio, also called Gelato 41, plus Mochi, Gello and Acai Berry, with Sunset Sherbert and Pink Panties sitting behind them as parent stock. Growers everywhere built on those cuts, which is why so much of the dessert-strain shelf traces back here.

Bacio is the loudest of the bunch. Its nose is intense enough that in October 2024 terpene house Abstrax built a Signature Series profile around it, after more than four years working directly with the brand. The strain names turned up across hundreds of rap records too.

Where to Get It

Sherbinskis holds California distributor licence C11-0001659 and sells direct through its own site, with Los Angeles delivery fulfilled by licensed retail partner Balanced. Orders placed after 9 p.m. roll into the next business day's delivery window.

Dispensaries can carry the line through the brand's wholesale channel. There is also a rewards programme that unlocks member-only apparel and invitations to private Sherbinskis events.

The High Rise Read

Plenty of brands claim heritage. Sherbinskis is one of the few that can point at a specific garage, a specific year and a specific cross, then hand you flower grown from that same plant. Come for Bacio. Stay for the fact that the guy who made Gelato is still the one picking phenos.
