Valhalla Confections is a cannabis edibles brand owned by TerrAscend and built around soft lozenges. The company was formed in 2014 in connection with the principals of The Apothecarium, and TerrAscend acquired it in 2019. Its products reach consumers through dispensaries in Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Ownership and history
Valhalla was formed in 2014 in connection with The Apothecarium's principals and operated in California, where it held state manufacturing licenses and made gluten-free cannabis-infused edibles. On June 6, 2019, TerrAscend closed a set of transactions with The Apothecarium covering the group's California operations, two planned retail sites and Valhalla. Total consideration for the package was US$36.8 million in cash and proportionate voting shares equivalent to 6.7 million common shares, with no separate figure published for Valhalla itself. The brand has operated inside TerrAscend's portfolio since.
Products and flavors
The current line is built on soft lozenges. TerrAscend's brand page lists Blue Raspberry, Sweet Orange, Sour Watermelon, Green Apple, Strawberry Lemonade, Grape and Pineapple, with indica, sativa and hybrid designations attached to several of the flavors.
Markets and retail
Valhalla appears on dispensary menus in Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, distributed through TerrAscend's retail network in those states alongside other licensed retailers.
Pennsylvania expansion
In the first quarter of 2024, TerrAscend reported expanding the Valhalla lineup to include one of the first 100 mg edibles available in Pennsylvania. The company attributed 54% sequential growth for the brand that quarter to the high-potency launch.
