BRRRBERRY is a live rosin from Punch Extracts, the solventless and vape arm of Punch Edibles & Extracts. Punch presses it without solvents, cutting agents or additives, from fresh frozen flower rather than cured bud. Haven's Maywood store has listed it as Punch Extracts Brrr Berry Live Rosin, a 1g hybrid.
That starting material is the key detail. Punch says many plant compounds break down at room temperature, so it freezes harvests fresh to keep the terpene content intact before any washing begins.
Ice water, hash and a fine-mesh press
Punch describes rosin as a full-spectrum concentrate made from flower or hash. For its live rosin, fresh frozen flower is washed into hash with ultra-purified ice and water, which Punch says leaves a contaminant-free product.
That hash is pressed through fine mesh to strip out impurities. The whole run happens in a climate-controlled room to protect taste from wash to jar. Ice, water, pressure and mesh do the separating, which is why the category is called solventless.
Northern California flower, pressed in Los Angeles
Punch runs its industrial kitchen and extraction facility in Canoga Park, in the San Fernando Valley. Hash Writer reports that Punch Extracts sources most of its flower from the Emerald Triangle in Northern California, and it praised the brand's commitment to fresh press live rosin.
The same piece placed Punch among only two or three legal brands then able to make fresh press live rosin. It also noted that Punch sold its jars for nearly a third less than competing top-end producers.
Hash Writer's rundown of the catalog included Strawberry Ice Cream, from Ice Cream Cake × Strawberry Banana, and Ice Cream Mints, from Ice Cream Cake × Kush Mints. Jelly Bomb, Dozizos and Fruity Pebbles filled out the list.
Fresh press, cold cure and a tiered menu
Punch releases its live rosin in two textures. Fresh press goes into the jar straight off the press. The other option is cold cure batter, a textured take on the same live rosin.
Every jar lands in one of 4 numbered tiers, sorted by how the source flower was grown. In 2021, Dab Connection reported that Tier 1 uses indoor flower, Tier 2 greenhouse and Tier 3 outdoor sun-grown. Weedmaps listings also show Silver Tier and Gold Tier runs, mostly in 1g jars with some 4g sizes.
That review, by Ben Chu, tested a Tier 3 fresh press of Modified Strawberries at 81.62% THC, 0.24% CBD and about 95.40% total cannabinoids. Chu praised its value at $50 or less, and he ranked it alongside rosin from Schackow Farms and West Coast Cure.
Brrr Berry cultivars on the market
Several breeders have released cultivars under the name. Weedmaps tracks three Brrr Berry OG cultivars: Nerds Genetics' DJ Short Blueberry × Gucci OG, Purple City Genetics' Wedding Cake × Watermelon Zkittlez, and Bean Fiendz' SuperBoof × Obama Runtz.
From the PunchBar to a solventless line
Punch started in 2013 with the PunchBar, a high-dose chocolate made because, in Punch's words, the edibles market lacked a product that was flavorful, size appropriate, potent and consistent.
The company has since grown to 6 product lines and 30 chocolate bar flavors, plus Asteroids, malt balls, gummies, vapes and Rocket and Stinger pre-rolls. Punch Extracts covers solventless, vape, distillate and Rocket products, and calls itself focused on craft solventless extraction.
The family also includes Tempo and Dr. Norm's, under the parent company Punch Edibles Media. Punch products fill hundreds of California dispensaries and now reach Oklahoma and New York. Its Punch Cares program supports California veterans, and Punch Points rewards buyers across the product family.
The rosin menu turns over constantly. Punch's current Weedmaps catalog runs to hundreds of rosin listings, from Banana Cane at Tier 1 to 91 Papaya at Tier 4 and Ape Slap at Gold Tier.
