Platinum Cake is a live hash rosin badder from Society C, the Michigan cannabis brand headquartered in Orion Township. Society C presses it from its own Platinum Cake flower and sells it in a 1g jar. The cultivar comes from In House Genetics, bred from Wedding Cake × The Platinum.
The brand extracts it with nothing but water, ice, heat and pressure. That puts Platinum Cake on the solventless side of a menu that also carries live resin badder, sold in 3.5g jars and 14g Baller Buckets.
Society C grows the flower it presses
Society C runs cultivation and processing from its headquarters at 4601 Liberty Drive in Orion Township. Its parent company is Natrabis, which also handles the brand's wholesale orders. The operation covers flower, vapes and concentrates under one roof.
The brand has picked up High Times People's Choice Awards in 2022 and 2023. At the 2024 Best in Grass awards, it won the hybrid category with Gastro Pop. It also took first place for vapes and second place in the sativa category.
For Platinum Cake, Society C sources the input from its own cultivation facility. The company says it picks phenotypes there for potency, flavor and effect, so the same team handles the plant from the grow room to the press.
A 1g badder in a six-strain rosin lineup
Live hash rosin starts with plants frozen at harvest rather than dried and cured. The frozen material is washed in ice water to collect the resin heads as hash, and that hash is pressed with heat to release the rosin. No hydrocarbon or alcohol solvent touches any step.
Badder is the finished texture, soft and whipped rather than glassy or runny. Society C currently runs six strains in its 1g live hash rosin badder format: White Truffle, Spritzer, Platinum Cake, Pastries, Gummiez and Grape Cream Cake.
Two of those jars share this format and this maker. Society C's Gummiez badder and Society C's Spritzer badder go through the same wash-and-press process with different cultivars.
In House Genetics built it on The Platinum
The flower behind the jar comes from In House Genetics, which sells Platinum Cake only as feminized seed. The breeder describes it as a marriage of the renowned Wedding Cake and its own Platinum line, the backbone of much of its catalog.
Seedfinder lists Platinum Cake as a balanced hybrid that can fall anywhere from 40/60 to 60/40 on the indica–sativa scale. Plants reach a medium height and flower in 9–10 weeks. Yields run high, and THC tests above 20% with low CBD.
The Platinum itself is a pure indica. Seedfinder traces it to UW Hashplant × Permafrost, lists it at about 60 days of flowering, and counts 58 direct descendants from In House. Among them are 33rd Degree, Aurelium, Bifrost and Cakes N Cream.
Wedding Cake and the next generation
Wedding Cake is the other parent, a cross of Triangle Kush and Animal Mints also sold as Triangle Mints #23 and, in Canada, as Pink Cookies. Leafly named it Strain of the Year in 2019. It lists a 7–9 week flowering window.
Wedding Cake already counts Ice Cream Cake and LA Kush Cake among its children. Platinum Cake has started its own line too, with five direct hybrids on Seedfinder. Growmaster Genetics made Banana Cupcake and Platinum Cake BX1. A.B. Seed Company added Fruity Cake, Monkey Bread and Pladdy Quake.
In the jar, all of that becomes a Michigan-grown, Michigan-pressed badder. Society C supplies the cultivation and the wash, while In House Genetics supplies a cross that joins a dessert-era favorite to its own hashplant-rooted indica.
