Platinum Cake is a feminized hybrid from In House Genetics, the US breeder behind Slurricane. It crosses Wedding Cake with The Platinum, the In House selection that serves as the backbone of much of the company's catalog.
In House describes the pairing as a success, and Seedfinder lists it with high yields and THC above 20%.
The Platinum as the In House backbone
The Platinum is an S1 line kept by In House Genetics. The breeder lists its lineage as Platinum Kush and rates it as a 100% indica that finishes in about 60 days from feminized seed. Seedfinder traces it back to UW Hashplant crossed with Permafrost, a line that carries Trainwreck and White Widow.
In House has used The Platinum again and again. Seedfinder counts 58 direct descendants, among them 33rd Degree with Gelato #33, Aurelium with Divine Gelato, Cakes N Cream with Pancakes, and Deluxe Sugarcane with Slurmint IX. Platinum Kush Breath and Platinum Garlic also sit among the brand's popular releases.
Wedding Cake on the other side
The second parent is Wedding Cake, which Seedfinder credits to Seed Junky Genetics. It is a cross of Triangle Kush and Animal Mints, also known as Triangle Mints #23 and, in Canada, Pink Cookies. Its ancestry reaches back through Girl Scout Cookies, OG Kush, Durban Poison and Bubblegum.
Leafly named Wedding Cake its Strain of the Year in 2019. It flowers in 7–9 weeks, finishes outdoors from September through October, and counts strains such as Ice Cream Cake and LA Kush Cake among its children.
Pairing it with The Platinum brings a Seed Junky dessert line into contact with the Hashplant-rooted indica that anchors so many In House crosses.
What growers can expect
Platinum Cake is sold only as feminized seed and grows indoors or outdoors under a normal light cycle. Seedfinder places it anywhere from 40/60 to 60/40 on the indica–sativa scale, so plants in a seed run can lean either way.
Indoor flowering takes 9–10 weeks after the switch to bloom, or about 67 days. That is a week or more longer than either parent's typical window: about 60 days for The Platinum and 7–9 weeks for Wedding Cake. Plants reach a medium height, and Seedfinder rates the yield as high.
THC is rated very high, above 20%, with low CBD. European seed shop Choice Cannabis Seeds carries Platinum Cake in its In House Genetics range as a feminized indoor and outdoor hybrid, priced at £43.99.
Where it fits in the In House catalog
In House Genetics has built its name on bold crosses with fruity, sweet, creamy and gassy profiles. Beyond Slurricane and Slurricane #7, its better-known releases include Sugar Cane and Jelly Breath.
Garlicane shows the other side of that work. It pairs GMO Cookies with Slurricane, itself a Dosidos × Purple Punch cross, and finishes in about 68 days, much like Platinum Cake.
Platinum Cake is the house's route into the Wedding Cake family, joining that Seed Junky parent with its own Platinum stock.
