Chroma is an indica bred and grown by Maven Genetics, the Los Angeles cultivator and seed breeder. It crosses two of Maven's own award-winning cultivars, Prizm and Black Diamond X.
Maven calls it a next-generation phenotype, and the flower backs that up visually with a silver sheen and stacked trichomes. Chroma also supplies the live rosin inside two of Maven's infused pre-rolls, Halochrome and Prizmatic.
Prizm and its 2024 Best of California win
Prizm is an indica cross of Opal and Permanent Marker, with Maven's library naming the #12 cut. Opal itself combines Blue Agape and Carbon Candy.
Maven chose Prizm from 31 phenotypes as the first release of its 2024 collection. It went on to win first place in the indica category at the 2024 Best of California competition.
The buds are small and football-shaped, with purple mottling under a beaded trichome coat. Maven has since used Prizm as a breeding male for newer feminized seed releases, and its #13 cut fathered Lipstain with Lipsmackerz.
Prizm shows up across the rest of the catalog too. Maven's strain library lists Sticky Grapez, a Prizm × Ambrosia cross, and Dirty Laundry, which pairs Prizm with the cup-winning FKAFL.
Black Diamond X and the XXX OG line
Black Diamond X is another Maven indica. It crosses Black Diamond OG with XXX OG, the gassy OG that Maven treats as a signature cultivar and bills as award-winning.
The strain grows colorful, dense, trichome-covered buds. Maven describes it as hard-hitting and deeply relaxing.
Black Diamond X anchors a whole branch of the Maven catalog. Umami Butter pairs it with Gelatti, and Black Lotus crosses it with Blue Lotus, a keeper Maven pulled from 12 phenotypes for its Black Box Series.
The same parent turns up in RS-X with RS-11, in Fantasma with Runtz and in Apples and Diamonds with Golden Applez, the male behind Maven's regular seed line.

Reviewer The Highest Critic rated Chroma 4.5 out of 5 in September 2025. The review found a dense, old-school structure with no shake, a smooth burn with white ash, and a limonene-dominant terpene profile backed by beta-caryophyllene and myrcene.

Maven grows indoors in California under a state license, hand-trims its flower and packs it in airtight glass jars. Chroma sits on a flower menu that spans 3.5 g eighths, 14 g Maven Minis and limited collections such as Kings & Queens and the Artist Series.
