Dark Matter is a hybrid from Wizard Trees, the Los Angeles brand led by founder Scott. It crosses Zoap with Y-Life, and Wizard Trees pitches it as an upgrade on both parents, with more depth and more layers.
The indoor flower tests high across markets. An eighth on Weedmaps showed 26.17% THC, and a New York jar at Kings House of Fire tested at 26.9% THC with 1.49% total terpenes.
Zoap meets Y-Life
Zoap is the better-known parent. Leafly credits Deo Farms of Oakland with the cross, built from Rainbow Sherbet and Pink Guava. It is an evenly balanced hybrid, and Weedmaps lists it among the genetics Wizard Trees introduced, alongside RS11, Tea Time and The Keeper.
Y-Life brings the other half. Leafly lists it as a sativa-dominant hybrid, and its genetic tree connects Y-Life to Cereal Milk and 2090 Shit. Wizard Trees says Dark Matter brings the signature terps of both parents together in one plant.
Indoor eighths from Los Angeles to New York
Wizard Trees grows Dark Matter indoors and sells it as 3.5g flower, a single pre-roll and multipacks. The brand describes dense, dark buds heavily coated in resin, and places the strain in its creamy, gassy, candy sherbet lane.
On Weedmaps, the eighth appears at Arizona dispensaries including Sol Flower's 32nd & Shea, Sun City and Foothills Tucson stores, at $35–$50. California Street Cannabis in San Francisco has also carried it, calling Dark Matter one of the newest additions to the Wizard Trees lineup.
In Cortlandt Manor, New York, Kings House of Fire lists the eighth at $60. Its lab panel shows 25.59% THCA and 0.96% delta-9 THC, with limonene at 0.56%, beta-caryophyllene at 0.49% and linalool at 0.30%.
Euphoric start, giggly middle, creative finish
Wizard Trees describes the ride as a euphoric start that shifts into giggly relaxation before settling into creative calm. The brand's own tags read nighttime, creative and head high.
The Grow Diaries strain entry puts indoor flowering at 56–63 days, with compact to medium plants, a medium yield and tight bud stacking. It describes dark purple-green buds with thick frost.
A 9.1 score from The Highest Critic
Reviewer The Highest Critic scored a jar of Dark Matter at 9.1 out of 10 in September 2024. The eighth sold for $45 before tax. The flowers were mostly small, squat popcorn nugs, lime green with purple highlights and orange pistils.
The review gave bag appeal 8.7, the smoke 9.25 and the effects 8.7. It noted a dense structure that cracked with a crisp snap, then pulled apart soft, and pure white ash. Zoap's influence came through strongest.
Effects opened with a euphoric head rush and pressure in the chest, plus sharp focus. They settled into a semi-strong, stony relaxation that lasted about 2 hours.
Dark Matter as a breeding parent
Wizard Trees has already put Dark Matter back into its breeding work. The brand lists Potion, a cross of Dark Matter and Black Magic, in single and multipack pre-rolls.
Wizard Trees sources genetics through in-house breeding projects and rare breeders, the approach behind Tea Time, The Keeper and ZoZa. Kings House of Fire credits the brand with High Times wins and placements at Zalympix. Wizard Trees holds California cultivation, manufacturing and microbusiness licenses.
