Facade is a sativa-leaning hybrid bred by Compound Genetics from Eye Candy and Apples and Bananas. Missouri's Vertical Cannabis grew it as part of Alien Era, a limited batch built around Compound genetics.
The flower is hard to miss. Solar Cannabis Co. describes a dark purple, almost black surface with very little green showing anywhere on the bud.
An Alien Era drop in Missouri
Weedmaps credits Facade to Compound Genetics and Vertical Cannabis as part of their Alien Era limited release. Vertical sells into Missouri's medical market, and its Leafly menu lists the flower as Façade.
That listing gives the cross as Eye Candy × Apples and Bananas, bred by Compound Genetics. It files Facade as a sativa hybrid, with D-limonene, linalool and nerolidol as the dominant terpenes.
Facade had company in the batch. Vertical's Tiger Moon listing places the Alien Era limited batch inside the Apples and Bananas drop. Tiger Moon itself crosses Pluto S1 with Apples and Bananas, also from Compound.
Compound Genetics and Apples and Bananas
Christopher Lynch founded Compound Genetics in Portland, Oregon, in 2017, after running Tiger Trees. Lynch is a San Jose native who was raised in Portland. He moved the company to San Francisco in 2019 to reach a bigger market.
Apples and Bananas arrived that same year. It came out of Compound's Jet Fuel Gelato seed collection and launched with Berner and Cookies. Lynch told Weedmaps he created the strains and Berner built the marketing. Pavé followed in 2021 as another Cookies collaboration.
Leafly lists Apples and Bananas as Now N Later × Jet Fuel Gelato, an indica-leaning hybrid rated 4.6 stars across 388 ratings. Compound has leaned on it heavily. Gastro Pop crosses it with Grape Gas and averages 26% THC on Leafly.
Eye Candy and a sibling in Maine
Eye Candy is also a Compound Genetics strain. Leafly puts it near 20% THC, with dense, sticky buds and plentiful trichomes. Its listed offspring include Chem 51 and Blue Lobster.
Blue Lobster shares both of Facade's parents but comes from a different breeder. Leafly credits that cross to Cipher Genetics, with Maine Trees hunting, naming and popularizing the keeper. It took three awards at the 2023 East Coast Zalympix: Gassiest, Best Terps and runner-up Best Overall.
Blue Lobster runs deep green with dark periwinkle under heavy frost. Solar's Facade goes darker still, with a near-black purple finish and very little visible green.
From Missouri to New England shelves
Facade has also turned up well outside Missouri. Solar Cannabis Co. has carried it at stores in Somerset, Seekonk and Dartmouth, Massachusetts, and in Warwick, Rhode Island. Solar lists it as a sativa-leaning hybrid from Compound Genetics.
Weedmaps describes fluffy, deep purple nugs and a flavor that runs from apricot and citrus into black pepper and a touch of diesel. Solar calls the effects equally loud, matching the intensity of the terpene profile.
Weedmaps users report waves of uplifted happiness with mental clarity and motivation. They describe it taking the edge off without sedation, which puts Facade in daytime and social territory.
