Kush Mints is a balanced hybrid from Seed Junky Genetics, the Southern California breeder run by Anthony Hart, known as JBeezy. It crosses Animal Mints with Bubba Kush, joining the Cookies family to an old-school Kush line.
Its reach is the standout fact. Seedfinder documents more than 200 hybrids built on Kush Mints, from Seed Junky's own crosses to releases by other breeders.
A garage program built on pheno-hunting
JBeezy started Seed Junky in a Southern California garage in the early 2000s. The program grew through relentless pheno-hunting and tight selection, and its catalog now includes Kush Mints, Wedding Cake and Permanent Marker, which Leafly named its Strain of the Year for 2023.
Kush Mints took a quieter route. Seedfinder notes it built its name through word of mouth rather than competition wins, and the original cut stays clone-only from the breeder. Other seed banks sell feminized seed versions of the cross.
Animal Mints and Bubba Kush
Animal Mints is a cross of Animal Cookies and SinMint Cookies, which places Kush Mints inside the wider Cookies family. Weedmaps credits that parent with the sweeter side of the strain. Leafly lists Animal Mints samples in the 20–30% THC range.
Bubba Kush brings the older foundation. Leafly dates it to Florida around 1996, when an OG Kush plant pollinated an indica obtained in New Orleans. Leafly classes it as a pure indica near 17% THC. Its stocky frame and bulky buds point to Afghani descent, and Leafly names it as a root of Kush Mints and, later, Wedding Cake.
Weedmaps lists Kush Mints at 19–29% THC, with aliases including Mint Kush, Kush Mintz and Kush Mint. Mint leads the reported flavors, backed by earthy Kush, pine, pepper and gas.
How the plant grows
Seedfinder describes a medium-height plant with bushy, indica-style structure and dense, resinous colas, testing up to 28% THC. It adapts to indoor and outdoor gardens, and indoor growers often use low-stress training and topping to manage height.
Leafly puts flowering at 8–9 weeks and rates the plant easy to grow, with medium yields and short-to-medium height. Weedmaps describes the finished flower as very dense and covered in crystal trichomes.
A parent across modern breeding
Seed Junky has used Kush Mints in a long list of its own crosses. Seedfinder names LA Kush Cake, Ice Cream Mints, Lemon Mints, Gas Face, Collision Kush, Cap Junky and Georgia Pie among them, along with a Kush Mints × Triangle Kush cross.
Jungle Boys grows LA Kush Cake and calls Kush Mints the parent to the strain its customers know. Jungle Boys lists the same Animal Mints × Bubba Kush lineage for Kush Mints itself.
Other breeders have used it too. Seedfinder lists Pancakes from Cookie Fam Genetics with Seed Junky, Mint Cream Cake from Alchemy Genetics, Platinum Kush Mints from In House Genetics and Gush Mints from Purple City Genetics.
That spread makes Kush Mints one of Seed Junky's core building blocks. A clone-only cut that spread by word of mouth now sits behind more than 200 documented hybrids.
