New Yorker is a hybrid from Wizard Trees, the Los Angeles flower brand. It crosses a Sour Diesel cut called “Riri” with Lemon Cherry Gelato, which Wizard Trees shortens to LCG in its lineage notes.
Wizard Trees built the strain around classic Sour Diesel character and calls it the highest-THC strain in its lineup. One 3.5 g batch listed on Weedmaps tested at 29.35% THC.
A Sour Diesel project from an LA grower
Wizard Trees is based in Los Angeles and grows in smaller batches, putting its focus on detail rather than large-scale commercial output. The brand says it crafts premium strains that are sought worldwide.
New Yorker was the brand’s answer to what it saw as a decline in quality Sour genetics on the market. The target was experienced smokers chasing the real Sour Diesel experience, with a heavy high and top-tier potency.
The brand is also expanding east. Its site promotes a New York launch with a dedicated state page, and Wizard Trees sells seeds through separate EU and USA genetics platforms.
Riri Sour D and the diesel side
Sour Diesel is a sativa-dominant hybrid bred from Chemdawg × Super Skunk, and its name carries weight far beyond dispensary menus. Wiz Khalifa has named it a favorite, and it has turned up in songs by Flatbush Zombies and Zayn Malik and on the TV show Broad City.
“Riri” names the specific Sour Diesel cut Wizard Trees used as New Yorker’s first parent. Wizard Trees describes the result as loud, funky and unapologetically sour, with that character present from the grow room through the finished smoke.
The Sour D half sets the tone for the whole strain. Wizard Trees chose the second parent to support that diesel core rather than replace it.
Lemon Cherry Gelato on the other side
Lemon Cherry Gelato is the second parent. Leafly lists it as a descendant of GSC, the California Cookies line bred from an OG Kush sub-type and F1 Durban.
Wizard Trees says the LCG side was added to improve visual appeal and cultivation traits while keeping the core Sour Diesel experience intact. The Weedmaps listing puts it plainly: funky Diesel sour on one side, sweet LCG candy on the other.
The flavor follows that split, with subtle candy gas running under a dominant sour profile. Wizard Trees tags the effects as creative, with a heavy body high that suits nighttime.
Formats and the Blue Magic offspring
New Yorker ships as 3.5 g indoor flower and as single and multipack pre-rolls. Retail prices for the eighth ran $33–$47 depending on the shop.
Wizard Trees has already used New Yorker as a parent. Blue Magic crosses New Yorker with Black Magic, a clone-only Wizard Trees keeper that also parents Voodoo, Orange Magic and Potion.
