Zalenciaga is two different cultivars wearing the same name. One is a Limited Trees Genetics selection grown by Bay Area Flavors: Zkittlez x Kush Mints 18, taken from a Blue Zushi cut. The other is a Blue Chip cross of Lemon Cherry Gelato x Zkittlez x Animal Cookies, cultivated by Neptune Pharms. They are not the same plant.
Where It Comes From
The name follows the Za wave, the run of Zkittlez-descended, luxury-brand-punned California cultivars that filled menus through the early 2020s. Zalenciaga arrived in that current, and like several strains from that stretch it got attached to more than one cross before anyone standardized it.
That is a market problem more than a genetics problem. When a naming convention moves faster than the breeding behind it, two unrelated crosses can land on the same word inside a single season, and neither grower is doing anything wrong.
The buyer is the one left holding an ambiguous label. It is the reason a producer name is worth more than a strain name in this corner of the market, and the reason menu copy for either version tends to describe the wrong plant.
The Cross
Version one, from Limited Trees Genetics and grown by Bay Area Flavors: Zkittlez x Kush Mints 18, with Kush Mints 18 breaking down to Animal Mints x Bubba Kush. The plant is specifically the Blue Zushi cut.
Version two, bred by Blue Chip and cultivated by Neptune Pharms: Lemon Cherry Gelato x Zkittlez x Animal Cookies. Note that it is Lemon Cherry Gelato, not Cherry Gelato. Different names, different plants, and that substitution is where menu copy usually goes wrong.
The one shared thread is Zkittlez. Past that, version one runs mint and kush; version two runs citrus candy and cookie. Animal Cookies, present only in the Blue Chip stack, is documented as GSC x Fire OG.
Worth flagging: that same three-parent stack, Lemon Cherry Gelato x Zkittlez x Animal Cookies, is also the published makeup of Seed Junky's Cherry Ztripez line. Overlapping stacks under different names are normal here, and it is one more reason to read the label rather than the name.
What It Left Behind
No competition placements are documented for either version. The footprint is retail: both crosses have circulated as premium California market flower, carried by the Za naming wave more than by any single release or campaign.
