Compound Z is Compound Genetics' cross of White Runtz and Apples and Bananas — an indica-leaning plant built entirely from inside the breeder's own catalogue rather than reaching outside it.
The Cross
White Runtz is the Gelato x Zkittlez side, a cut known for real weight behind the candy reputation. Apples and Bananas is the more layered half: a Platinum Cookies x Granddaddy Purple hybrid crossed onto a Blue Power male, then crossed again onto Gelatti.
That second line is where the purple colouration traces back to, and it is the reason the two parents split the work rather than competing. One supplies density and resin; the other supplies structure and colour.
The flower runs dense and rigid — deep green shot through with purple, tangerine-to-copper pistils, and a trichome coat thick enough to give the surface a sandy shine.
Where It Comes From
Compound Z was released as a feminized photoperiod seed, with a flowering window of roughly sixty to sixty-five days and a growth pattern that reads mostly indica.
From there it moved into licensed cultivation, grown out by California outfits including Cream of the Crop Gardens, and it has carried the Runtz and Apples and Bananas families onto legal retail shelves as both flower and cartridges.
What A Closed Catalogue Buys You
Breeding a cross entirely from lines you already own is a different exercise from chasing an outside cut. The breeder knows both parents' behaviour, which shortens the selection work and makes the result more predictable across runs.
