Where It Comes From
Wizard Trees is a Los Angeles breeding operation that built its name on the Zangria family, and Gridlock is one of the crosses that came out of that work.
The design intent is unusually specific. Gridlock was made for OG enthusiasts chasing a pure petrol profile, a narrower brief than most modern releases take on. The market has spent years chasing candy and fruit; this one deliberately went the other way.
The timing helps explain it. Zangria gave Wizard Trees a candy-forward identity that plenty of other brands then copied, and Gridlock is the brand pulling one of its own signatures in the opposite direction instead of running the same play again.
Wizard Trees kept working with it after release. The brand's Boiler Room seed line pairs Gridlock with Tea Time, using Gridlock as the gassy, funky half of that cross. A plant a breeder returns to is a plant the breeder trusts.
The Cross
Breeder and brand credit go to Wizard Trees. The parents are True OG and Zangria.
True OG is the OG-family half: earth, pine, citrus peel, fuel, and the dense resin that line has been known for since long before the current exotic market existed. It is the reason Gridlock reads as an OG first and a modern hybrid second.
Zangria is the contemporary half. It is a clone selection popularized through Fiya Farmer, documented as Thin Mint Cookies crossed with the original Z, the Zkittlez cut. Gridlock joins older kush and gas material to modern candy-fruit genetics, then selects hard toward the gas. Where Zangria on its own reads as tropical fruit with grape and berry, Gridlock keeps all of that well behind the fuel.
Growing specs put flowering near 63 days, fast for an OG-family plant, on tall, slender structure with long internodes that reward pruning and support. Indoor yields are listed in the 350 to 600 g/m² range, with outdoor harvest landing in October.
Effect reporting is consistent: a deep physical buzz carrying the mental fog associated with the strongest OG selections, which makes this an end-of-day cultivar rather than an afternoon one.
