Pandora is a hybrid from Maven Genetics, the Los Angeles cultivator and seed breeder. It crosses Kush Mints #11 with Grape Cuvée, one of Maven's own house strains.
Maven released Pandora as the third edition of its limited Black Box Series. The box theme runs right through the product copy: the temptation to open this one, Maven says, will be hard to resist.
The third drop in Maven's Black Box Series
The Black Box Series is Maven's limited-release line. The second entry was Blue Lotus, which Maven picked from 12 phenotypes before giving it a Black Box slot. Pandora followed as edition three.
That selection process is standard at Maven. The company says every strain goes through a phenotyping process that scores structure, flavor, terpene expression and overall experience before anything reaches the market.
Maven grows indoors and controls quality from seed to sale. Its Weedmaps profile cites more than 20 years of cultivation experience behind the brand.
Kush Mints #11 meets Grape Cuvée
The first parent is a numbered selection of Kush Mints, a Seed Junky Genetics creation that sits beside Ice Cream Cake and Wedding Cake in that breeder's catalog. Pandora uses the #11 cut.
The second parent is Grape Cuvée, a Maven original. Leafly lists it as MAC1 × Granimals, an indica-dominant hybrid with eggplant-purple buds, milky trichomes and electric orange hairs at around 30% THC.
Maven brought Grape Cuvée back with a new phenotype in its Spring 2023 strain collection. That release reworked Grape Cuvée, Medusa and Sour Sangria alongside five new strains, including Ube Crème and Paradiso.
Violet, fuchsia and 34% THC
Pandora shows its Grape Cuvée side in the jar. Maven describes violet and fuchsia tones woven through pale green foliage, all under a heavy coat of frosted trichomes.
Wooza has listed Maven's Pandora eighths at 34.4% THC. The flavor runs to mint, fruit and pine with a smooth exhale.
The high starts as a warm tingle in the head and works its way down. Maven describes a mix of mental alertness and full-body relaxation that ends in a dreamy, euphoric state.
Parent of the award-winning Sour Sangria
Pandora has already become breeding stock inside Maven. The company crossed it with Yuzu Mac to make Sour Sangria, which Maven's seed line calls award-winning.
Sour Sangria has since gone into another cross, Piña Sangria, extending Pandora's line into a third generation of Maven work.
The rest of the Maven catalog shows the company's track record. At the 2023 High Times Cannabis Cup SoCal, Maven took first place with Orange Bellini and second with French Laundry.
Its foundational lineup also includes the XXX OG signature cut, Golden Applez from Golden Hour × Fried Applez, and Prizm, an Opal × Permanent Marker cross. Maven has since used Prizm as the male behind two feminized seed releases, Dirty Laundry and Lipstain.
Pandora fits that pattern. Maven selects a keeper, releases it under the house name, then puts it back into the breeding program for the next round.
