Apple Fritter is one of the genuinely well-documented cultivars on this shelf: Lumpy's Flowers' cross of Sour Apple and Animal Cookies, out of Northern California. Summit Boys present it as caviar badder, which is a hydrocarbon product rather than a solventless one, and that distinction is worth making before anything else.
Who Makes It
Summit Boys are a legacy California concentrate producer operating since 2016, originally under Prop 215. They are best known as "The Original White Caviar," and their catalog runs caviar badder, caviar crumble, caviar sugar, live resin diamonds, crystalline, and sauce.
Important and often blurred: these are solvent-based extracts. Summit Boys is a BHO house, not a solventless one. That is not a knock — hydrocarbon extraction is a different craft with different strengths — but a caviar badder should not be mistaken for hash rosin.
Their record includes 14 awards at the 2019 Bay Area Cannabis Cup, including Best Product and Hybrid Concentrate for the Caviar.
The Cross
Apple Fritter comes from Lumpy's Flowers in Northern California, crossed from Sour Apple and Animal Cookies.
It is also sold as the "Lumpy's Cut," and Fresh Baked — the Long Beach flower brand Summit Boys has collaborated with — is specifically known for their Apple Fritter and Cherry Fritter.
How It's Made
Caviar badder is Summit Boys' house presentation. Badder itself is a texture: extract whipped or agitated through a low-heat purge until it turns opaque and spreadable. Crumble is the same material purged longer and left alone; sugar is what happens when cannabinoids crystallise through it.
Because this is a hydrocarbon extract, the relevant quality questions are different from a rosin's: purge completeness and residual solvent testing matter here in a way they simply do not for a pressed product. The COA is the document that answers them. Caryophyllene leads the terpene panel, with limonene and pinene behind it.
What It Left Behind
Apple Fritter is reported to have taken 2nd place in Hybrids at the 2016 High Times NorCal Cannabis Cup.
The 14 Bay Area Cup awards belong to Summit Boys as a producer, not to this cultivar.
The High Rise Take
A documented cultivar and a documented producer is a better starting point than most of this shelf offers. See the Apple Fritter strain profile, compare the collaboration jar on Oreo Mac Caviar Badder, or browse the High Rise concentrate library.
