Insane Rainbow is a flower release carried under the Insane label, the Los Angeles brand co-founded by Cypress Hill's B-Real with cultivator Kenji Fujishima. What is documented is the flower itself: multicolor buds, purple running to near-black, and a heavy pale coat of resin.
Where It Comes From
Insane's paper trail runs deep even where this specific cultivar's does not. The operation traces to B-Real, master grower Kenji Fujishima, and Roni Desantis, with Fujishima's first California grow in 1990 from Colombian Gold bagseed.
In 1996 he toured with Cypress Hill, hit Amsterdam, and came back carrying Cali O, White Russian, and White Rhino. Bubba Kush and OG Kush landed in 1997 and 1998, and by 2000 the house OG was moving on LA streets as Kenji Kush, the cut that became Insane OG.
The legal build-out followed. Dr. Greenthumb entered licensed retail in 2014, the first cultivation facility opened in 2015, and the Sylmar flagship opened in 2018. That history is the real context for a release like this one: a legacy-cut house that spent the 2010s converting street reputation into shelf presence, then widened the catalog well past the OG spine.
The Cross
Not published for this release. The nearest documented Insane product using the Rainbow name is Rainbow Mintz, which the brand lists as Jealousy crossed with London Pound Mintz.
Those are two different labels. If your package reads Rainbow Mintz, Jealousy is a documented parent. If it reads Insane Rainbow and nothing more, the genetics stay open, and no menu copy changes that.
The flower is where this one earns attention. Buds show several visibly different colors on the same shoot: the dominant flowers dense and dark, purple leaf tissue running to nearly black, olive-green calyxes, copper pistils, and a heavy pale resin coat, with lighter green buds sitting directly beside them.
That contrast is the Rainbow reference made literal. Structure is compact and irregular rather than long and spear-shaped, and the surface reads swollen and textured from stacked calyxes and trichome load.
What It Left Behind
No competition placement is documented for Insane Rainbow. The footprint belongs to the brand rather than the cultivar.
Insane is one of the clearest cases of a prohibition-era LA grow operation surviving into licensed retail with its cuts and its crew intact, which is why the label carries weight even on releases with no published pedigree. Potency is a batch property and belongs on the certificate of analysis, not in a strain description.
